A Message from the Editor Dear readers, There have been an unusual number of major news stories this week. Jeanne Smits’ exclusive interview with Cardinal Burke and his exposure of the manipulations that took place at the Synod on the Family is being noted by many others on the Internet. The giant pro-life march in Lima, Peru on Saturday was historic. Cardinals Mueller and Koch have made some unusually blunt corrective statements to counteract the growing chaos in the Church over reckless public statements by other Catholic bishops. There is an astonishing exclusive story coming tomorrow regarding Nigeria and the Obama administration. In Canada, there's a lot of craziness happening regarding the imposition of pro-homosexual and sexually abusive sex-ed programs for all students down to the very young and a rapidly growing pattern of suppression of the rights and freedoms of Christians and others who value traditional principles. As for the LifeSite Spring Campaign, $127,000 is still needed just to keep LifeSite going for the next quarter, so we will be ramping up the campaign for these last few days. Last month we experienced record traffic of over 8 million pages viewed. Our goal is therefore not at all unreasonable for such a significant international news service. It takes a lot of staff and expenses to deliver the high quality, crucial reports that you read every day. (You can donate here if you haven't yet done so.) | Carlos Polo, a member of the organizing committee, discusses the massive March for Life in Lima that now rivals the Washington, D.C. event in size. By Guilherme Ferreira Araújo | The realities of life 'cannot be a third reality of the revelation next to Holy Scripture and the Magisterium,' he says. By Maike Hickson | 'Because of the Kansas legislature's strong pro-life convictions, unborn children in the state will be protected from brutal dismemberment abortions,' said Carol Tobias of National Right to Life. By Ben Johnson | 'As hard as it was, I think if we had had an abortion it would have been far worse,' Conservative MP Kyle Seeback says in a new promo video for the National March for Life. By LifeSiteNews staff | 'It is not so bad now compared to other parts of the world. But over the next 10 or 20 years, it will affect us all ... unless we do something." By Steve Weatherbe | The self-loathing of liberals that drives this contempt for life is bewildering. By Lisa Bourne | Here's a list of just some who have been on the incredible journey towards accepting life. By Rebecca Downs | It's hardly a stretch to think if a baby reacts so powerfully to a drag of a cigarette, that he or she feels the excruciating pain of an abortion. By Susan Michelle Tyrell | The NAACP clearly don't think the epidemic of fatherlessness in this nation is an issue, despite the fact that 72.3% of black children are born into homes without fathers. By Ryan Bomberger | The complementarity of man and woman is not a religious construct; it is written on our hearts, spelled out in our DNA, and present everywhere we turn and look at nature. By Doug Mainwaring | Today, instead of being allowed to die or killed by staff at a hospital, it is the baby's own parents who sentence him or her to death. By Sarah Terzo | Claiming to want to move 'beyond' the abortion wars, author and theology professor, Charles Camosy, creates an argument that seems designed to offend the pro-life side, while giving great respect to those who want to make sure abortion remains legal. By Anne Hendershott | My 'sister is a happy ghost!' says the 3-year-old protagonist of the story. By Katie Yoder | |
