	Avaya and HP to sell combined portfolio of UC, contact center and infrastructure services Avaya and HP Enterprise Services announced they have signed a multi-year agreement to offer a combined portfolio of Unified Communications-as-a-Service (UCaaS), Contact Center-as-a-Service, and infrastructure modernization services. The combined portfolio will support for mobile applications, software, and networking for unified communications and customer experience management.As part of the agreement, the HP ES Business Process Services organization will assume service delivery of a significant portion of Avaya Private Cloud Services, including a limited transfer of Avaya employees and contractors to HP; however, responsibility for sales contracts, service level agreements, and the overall client experience will remain with Avaya. Learn more Witness the future: The 1955 Video Phone The National Archives blog recently featured a pretty cool clip showing one of the first “futuristic” video phones – from 1955, manual rotary dial and all. According to the blog: “Demonstrated for the first time, the videophone, with two-way picture screens enabling the parties to see, as well as speak to, each other. As simple to operate as today’s dial tone. The videophone included a small screen so that women could ‘primp’ before placing their calls. Learn more The Hybrid WAN requires paradise by the dashboard lights One of the iconic singers of the late 70s was a guy who called himself “Meat Loaf.” In one of his more notable songs he sings “though it’s cold and lonely in the deep dark night, I can see paradise by the dashboard lights.” Some might think he was talking about being with a lady in his car, but I offer an alternative view. I believe he was talking about how cold and lonely it is for network managers who are in the data center late at night trying to troubleshoot WAN problems. However, with a good dashboard that lights up problems, that network manager could eventually find paradise.I was recently interviewing a Cisco Sales Engineer that I’ve know for a while about the concept of the hybrid WAN, and it seems Cisco recently came out with a new version of PfR (v3) to make moving to a next-generation WAN easier, with an improved dashboard as a key feature.
