and Microsoft Office software suite.

Microsoft offers workaround for IE vulnerability, 07/06/05

Microsoft has released software that can be used to mitigate a
critical vulnerability in Internet Explorer that was first
reported last week. The bug, which concerns the way Internet
Explorer handles ActiveX components, can cause the browser to
crash and could be used by an attacker to run unauthorized
software on the IE user's machine, according to Microsoft.

Sasser lawyers to make closing statements Thursday, 07/07/05

Lawyers in the trial of the Sasser computer worm author will
make their closing arguments later Thursday at the district
court in Verden, Germany, with the court expected to deliver its
verdict on Friday, according to a court spokeswoman.

Fla. man arrested for stealing Wi-Fi, 07/07/05

A Florida man has been arrested for stealing Wi-Fi. Richard
Dinon noticed 41-year-old Benjamin Smith III of St. Petersburg

Ping Identity gets ball rolling on server to share identities,

Ping Identity Wednesday opened up the initial beta program for
the next version of its PingFederate server, which includes
support for the newest standard identity protocols.

IBM seeks to boost use of digital certificates by banks,
07/06/05

IBM Wednesday announced it is hoping to encourage banks to make
more use of digital certificates through a tie-up with trusted
identity company Identrus. Identrus has certified Version 1.5
and higher of IBM's z/OS mainframe operating system so that
users of the software can act as their own digital certificate
authorities, eliminating potentially costly middleman
certifiers, according to an IBM executive.
